Well anyway, it’s raining outside. It has been all day and it does not make me feel productive in any way. What happened to all that lovely weather we had last month?
So today I thought I’d share a photo a took last year on one of our summer walks. I love walking in the countryside in the sunshine. And I do happen to live nearby to Chatsworth house and the Peak District.
So today I am dreaming of sunny country walks. What are you doing on a rainy day like today?

]]>Have you ever seen a pretty picture and wished you had some coordinating colours? Well look no further, I’ve found a few ways if getting just that!
There are plenty on automatic generators online you can use.
Chip It allows you to either upload an image, or use an image url and it will generate some colours for you. These colours are taken from a paint range so it does not creat exact matches but I’ve tried a couple of images, like the one below, with good results.

Big Huge Labs has another automatic colour swatch generator. It allows you to upload images or connect to Facebook or Flickr. It picks out alot more colours that the Chip It version but the colours are an exact match to the image.
Of course, if you want more control over the swatch colours you can always create you own. I use Photoshop to do this but you can use any program that allows you to draw shapes and has a colour picker tool.
Here are a few instructions to show you how I create mine:
Open your image in your chosen programme. Extend your canvas to give you white space to one side of your image.
Using the colour picker tool, select a colour from your image. Draw a solid-filled shape within the white space. Choose any shape you like. I have chosen a basic rectangle.

Continue selecting colours and drawing shapes in the same way. Don’t worry about creating any kind of order to begin with, each rectangle can be moved around your canvas and organised later. Sometimes your colours don’t seem to work together well. Just keep selecting colours and rearranging your shapes until you have a small selection you are happy with (you can always copy them into a new canvas to be able to move them around to find colours that work well together).
Once you have played around with your chosen colours you should be left with a pretty image and colour swatch to inspire you.

]]>We had a few days off over Easter and now I’m finally organising the new craft room/office. It’s starting to take shape and hopefully I’ll get it photographed soon.

]]>Luckily it didn’t stick around thanks to the rain but it is so cold. I was even tempted to drag my scraf and gloves out again!
So to try and cheer myself up, and forget about what is going on outside I’ve been looking for some new yummy recipes to try…
These look so nice. I may just have to bake them tonight. They are supposed to be lemon cakes with the sticky consistancy of brownies.
Mint White Choocolate Mousse Cake
This cake looks divine! It’s a little more time consuming than I can manage right now but it looks so yummy. Maybe I will make it for my sister for her birthday next month.
I love doughnuts. Especially when they are just made and still warm. I also love lemon curd. This looks like a match made in heaven!
And if you fancy something a bit more savoury, then these look just the ticket! I’m a bit cheese mad at the moment so they look perfect to me. I can’t wait to try this recipe.
Well all this recipe hunting has made me very hungry so I’m off to the kitchen!

]]>I’ve been working on a plan for the table and have a huge list of things to do still.
If you’re in Chesterfield on Sunday 1st April and are getting married then pop along to The Olde House. There will be plenty to see and sample.

]]>Today has been spent being productive. A few hours in the workshop, in the greenhouse, cleaning the car, in the kitchen and of course watching the Formula 1 highlights.
Tomorrow is our end of term party at Rainbows and Brownies so I’ve been making chocolate Easter treats for them.
Look at our mini tomato plants. They are growing nicely on the windowsill. I can’t wait till we have yummy tomatoes straight from the greenhouse.
What have you been up to on this sunny Sunday?

]]>I was inspired by the vertical stripes of patterns in this layout by Ronda. I came across her blog via Pinterest. If you like paper crafting you will love all the gorgeous layouts, cards and tuorials she has.
I am feeling really inspired to scrapbook at the moment which is a shame as all my stash is still packed away in boxes whilst we decorate. We’re getting there slowly so hopefully all this inspiration will stick around until then. Until then I’ll carry on playing around with website designs and digital scrapbooking.

How about this funky handbag from Coco Crafts.
These vintage bobby pins from Josephines are gorgeous!
This Family cushion from Betsy Jarvis would make a perfect Mother’s Day gift.
Is you Mum a fan of the classic English biscuits? This would look great in the kitchen.
Or how about a hand crocheted mug cosie, perfect for your Mum to cosy up on the sofa after a hard day of work. Quirky Boots are also offering it as a gift set too.
Why not treat your Mum to something handmade this year?
