Hi! I’m Lisa. I live just north of Chesterfield with my partner John and two children, Layla & Emilia.
I’m a small business owner – I also co-own Altered Chic, The Ribbon Co and Shop Indie with John. These businesses have allowed me to develop my crafty side but my drawing had almost stopped completely. It isn’t easy trying to juggle two kids, businesses and everything else life throws at you!
Drawing was something that I had enjoyed since I was a little girl – a talent passed down from my Grandad. As a teenager I would spend hours drawing and painting working towards my art A-level.
Getting back to drawing…
A couple of years ago I was introduced to drawing digitally on an iPad. Although I continue to love pencil drawing and painting, drawing digitally has also become one of my favourite mediums.
I have lived in Chesterfield all my life (apart from a year in Edinburgh). Living in Derbyshire with the Peak District on my doorstep is a wonderful source of inspiration. I love drawing landscapes, buildings and wildlife. It is also a good reason to get my walking boots on and take out my camera.
As a family we love getting outside and exploring the countryside. We also love visiting new places further afield – particularly the seaside.
At every location that I wish to draw I start by taking a selection of photographs. I use these to create a sketch of the landscape or building.
Once I am happy with the initial sketch I can then draw an outline for the final piece.
After this is done I start adding colour, shading and any final details.
Once I am happy with the final illustration I can then create the design files for printing them onto the various products that I have available.
Each product is printed using a small independent business in the UK.
I hope to build my collection of landscapes and beautiful buildings whilst visiting places such as Yorkshire, Kent and our favourite location in the UK, Devon.
