Description
Tapton House in Chesterfield, Derbyshire is a Georgian house which has been home to many well known local families as well as George Stephenson – builder of the first public railway line in the world to use steam locomotives. After constructing the North Midland Railway, George Stephenson became so attached to Chesterfield that he decided to lease Tapton House and lived there until his death in 1848. Tapton House has also been used as a school, college and office space.
The print features an illustration of Tapton House.
